Customer Service Keeps Giving Me Different Answers
Do not repeat the full dispute to another representative. Build a short table of who said what, when, and through which channel. Ask the business to identify the controlling answer and reconcile the two or three statements that materially conflict.
When the case is stronger
- The conflicting statements are written and refer to the same order, facts, and requested remedy.
- You relied on a specific instruction and can show the resulting action.
- A policy or order page supports one of the answers.
When the case is weaker
- The answers concern different facts, products, sellers, or stages of review.
- A representative gave an estimate rather than a commitment.
- The alleged promise is remembered but not documented.
High-value evidence
- Chat transcripts and emails
- Names or interaction IDs
- Order and case numbers
- Public or order-specific policy
- Proof of reliance on a specific instruction
The business’s strongest plausible position
The business may reasonably explain that an early representative lacked complete information or that a later specialist decision superseded an estimate.
Realistic remedies
- Confirm the controlling decision in writing
- Honor a documented promise when reliance makes that proportionate
- Correct the record and give one accountable next step
